Since our very first web site, originally designed in 2000, Quietly Working has made it a point to display our colors, resolve, and pride through a special page called The Patriotism Page.

Sadly, the morning of September 11, 2001 forced us to re-focus The Patriotism Page from a proud display of our colors to ensuring the rememberance of the men, women and children who lost their lives on that fateful morning.

We enjoy a wonderful love of family, friends, and the work we do, yet, we make it a point to never forget the reason behind why we can enjoy such things; this wonderful country of ours and the men and women who made the sacrifices that allow us to enjoy the lives we live. We owe so much to this great land to the honorable people who made the sacrifices to give us such a wonderful gift. We try to pause each and every day to show our gratitude for this wonderful gift that we have been given.

Who are we to talk about patriotism? We are the people who are brought to tears when a Marine Corps Major is at our door, struggling on crutches, raising money to feed and clothe the men who fought with him to maintain our way of life. We are the people you see visiting Veterans Memorials to say, "Thank you," on days that aren't holidays. Not only are we the people that vote, we are the people who work on the campaigns and heckle non-voters in the hopes that they will change their tune. We are the people who weren't motivated to patriotism because of 9/11 because we were already deeply enveloped in our patriotism before that horrible morning. All we ask of each American is to remember the sacrifices behind the lives we live.

We proudly display the ribbon we received for our donation to the families of New York City Emergency Workers.
Since May 2001, we have proudly supported the United States Mission in Los Angeles.  The US Mission works to clothe, feed and house Vietnam Veterans.
Immediately following the 9/11 attack, all Americans were called upon to show their patriotism through display of the American flag. When I went to buy one for my car, it gave me great pride to find American Flag stickers in short supply. It actually took me a couple of days to round one up. I placed it on the rear window of my car and that led me to begin thinking of a way to pay my respects to Joe Allen and the other 9/11 victims. That resulted in a trip to the hardware store to purchase some colored electical tape that I then fashioned in red, white and blue stripes, similar to the ribbons that were coming to represent the 9/11 victims, opposite the American flag on my rear window. After noticing that the stripes were illuminated by the sun when I looked in my rear view mirror, I decided that the colors would be better displayed on my car when lit up by the headlights. By the end of September 2001, to honor the memory of the 9/11 victims as well as to show our appreciation for the brave men and women who have given us the gift of the lifestyle we enjoy, we made it policy for all our company vehicles to carry a representation of the red, white and blue ribbon on their headlights...
From June 2002 through its absorption into our CEO's The Update blog in August 2008, the Quietly Working Update featured these two patriotic images in the header to honor our nations' heroes.
